Alright! It's about time someone made some punk rockish style noodle bowls.

Environment Canada has quietly released its climate report for 2010, confirming that it was the hottest year on Canadian record books.

National temperatures exceeded average values by a whopping 3C, the warmest since record-keeping began in 1948.

“All of the country was above normal, with most of Nunavut and northern Quebec at least 4C above normal,” that highlights 2010’s northern heat wave on its map in red.

“An area over southern Alberta and Saskatchewan was the only part of Canada with close to normal temperatures this past year,”.

Higher temperatures have long been predicted as a result of the rising levels of emissions to the atmosphere.

Climate change models predict Canada — and the North in particular — could undergo some of the most pronounced warming on the planet if emissions are not slashed.

Monday’s report does say that Canada is warming. Of the 10 warmest years on record, four have occurred within the last decade, and 13 of the last 20 years are listed among the 20 warmest.

Add it all up and the average national temperatures been above normal since 1997.

Is this a guilty pleasure or just pleasure? Neon Trees performing "Animal" on Jimmy Fallon. Really good song and great dance moves from the lead singer Tyler Glenn before the last chorus. I laugh every time I watch it. Good stuff.

It was one of those Friday nights when you stock up on movies for the week. Good to be prepared. It was also hard to find anything that I wanted to see. So ended up grabbing Cyrus and a Canadian film called Heartbeats or Les amours imaginaires, that I've eyeballed a few times but wasn't sure because I hadn't heard anything about it.
It's really good. A pseudo documentary is intertwined with a dramatic story of joy and yearning. The two main characters biggest insecurities are exposed when they both meet and fall for a handsome charismatic boy who by chance enters their scene. It shouldn't really work, the combination of drama and interviews with other people sharing relationship stories not related to the main story. But it does for me. Beautifully shot in Montreal it entertains and reminds of the insecurities we all have. It's French with English subtitles which is fine because I'm Canadian. Recommended!

Christmas 2010. Seven days in Vancouver catching up with my best friends, hanging out with family and shopping. The post xmas shopping thing is a relatively new thing for me. I usually can't be bothered with going out to get in on bargains because I don't really like all the people trying to do the same thing. But it wasn't that bad and there really are some crazy good deals. Anyway here's some pictures of my peeps. My super cute nephew, Tai. My twin and his film making partner. The plaid patrol, Pete & Jordan. Garn waving hello. My sweet angel bringing back grunge via xmas gifting and my cohort Matt, who drove out to airport on my way out so we could actually talk coffee to coffee. Love y'all.

It would be fun to say that the latest movie from the incredible Coen brothers is pure shit, based solely on the fact that I'm still sort of a punk rocker and a closet rapper. But it's really not.
With so many current movies I would like to see (not all of them playing in Thunder Bay)it was really a coin toss between the three that are here. The Fighter, Tron Legacy & True Grit.
I can't recall if I saw the original made in 1969. I may well have.
Lot's of talent in this remake. Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin all produced rewritten and directed by the Coens. It's good.
I do wonder though who really wanted to remake this western? The studio or the brothers.
Hailee Steinfeld is unforgettable in a lead role. She was thirteen when they filmed this. Her precociousness is at times annoying but her role is very memorable and I assume she will continue to star in movies for years to come.
I was slightly taken a back when some of the audience laughed, in one scene where three criminals are to be hanged. Each are allowed to say their last words to the town who had gathered. When it's time for the third to speak, a native. He is hooded before he has a chance to talk. Hmmm. Maybe I missed something.
True Grit is a good go.
I just wish it were more Coenesque.
