It was with melancholy that I finished off my hockey season yesterday.
Before I moved to Smithers, almost two years ago now, I was used to being fortunate enough to be able to play all year around. The town of Smithers shuts down their rink immediately after the "Wind Up".
The Wind Up is a one evening tournament with all the teams from the league. The games are all fifteen minutes of running time. A great way to ensure anyone beating anyone.
My team, The Grizzlies went 2 - 1. We didn't make the finals.
This was the second season I've played with "The Smithers Oldtimers. Both seasons have been nothing but fun. It's a great way to meet alot of people from the community very quickly.
The starting times for games during the regular season don't work well with my work hours but, from experience, I've learned that I always miss playing if I don't. Even if it meant getting only 4 hours of sleep before work I would almost always play. I love playing hockey.
Here are some photos from my last season of hockey in Smithers.
