Hope springs eternal. I love how that sounds and that phrase contains the word spring which is appropriate for obvious reasons. As most know I moved up to Smithers to get my foot in the door of the radio industry. It's been interesting living in a place that is so small and remote. Fortunately I didn't have to stop playing hockey as Smithers really is a hockeyville of sorts. I'm finshing up my season with the "Smithers Oldtimers" and it's been a pleasure for me. The hours that we play don't really work well with my morning show duties but more often than not I would play because I love it. Here's some photos of my team, known as, the red team.

Ski Smithers is where people ski & snowboard here in Smithers. It's pretty good no line ups and a great quality of snow. These pictures are from last weekend but I went yesterday and enjoyed riding one section of the hill below Twinkle Bowl. Twinkle had big swaths of unriden snow and then, below there I would head through a section with more trees. Fresh pow and space to navigate through without any danger of smashing into a tree. It was great. I don't think anyone else was riding it because I could see, what I thought, were my previous tracks as I went down. A great snowboard experience. Matt set me up with a new board and bindings that he picked up at a movie he was working on. It all worked well and I was super stoked to get some new gear to ride with. I think the board is more of a "park" board than I would prefer. The narrower profile didn't cut through the powder as well as wider board would. But I'm still loving the new Technine board and Rome 390 bindings. The design of the Rome bindings made it really easy to make big adjustments very quickly and with out having to use my bakoda. Thanks Matt, I owe you one or two.
