It was one of those Friday nights when you stock up on movies for the week. Good to be prepared. It was also hard to find anything that I wanted to see. So ended up grabbing Cyrus and a Canadian film called Heartbeats or Les amours imaginaires, that I've eyeballed a few times but wasn't sure because I hadn't heard anything about it.
It's really good. A pseudo documentary is intertwined with a dramatic story of joy and yearning. The two main characters biggest insecurities are exposed when they both meet and fall for a handsome charismatic boy who by chance enters their scene. It shouldn't really work, the combination of drama and interviews with other people sharing relationship stories not related to the main story. But it does for me. Beautifully shot in Montreal it entertains and reminds of the insecurities we all have. It's French with English subtitles which is fine because I'm Canadian. Recommended!
