Happy New Year to you! A fresh slate? I'm not really feeling that way. Time just rolls on. I don't mean that in a pessimistic way at all. Perhaps the mood of my holiday season was affected by the severe weather on the west coast that changed my travel plans?
I was planning on going to Edmonton were my immediate family lives. But my connecting flight in Vancouver was canceled, delayed, canceled and delayed.
Truth is I didn't work the phone that hard to rebook my flight. Jen's family are based in Vancouver and it was a great chance to get reacquainted. Not what I planned but it was more than fine.
I received this package opening tool as a gift. It comes packaged in the hard plastic packaging that the tool was designed to open.
I got the tool to open the packaging but the tool is inside the packaging that it was designed to open. Oh no...

Happy New Year! I was browsing blogs from people in my hometown and stumbled upon yours. Interesting, actually, because I had my radio start at the Peak way back when it was just calle BVLD (I guess that was really only about 4 years ago or so). How long have you been working there?
My dad and I each got one of those things for Christmas last year (2007). I opened mine with my Swiss Army knife, and then used it (the Safe-Cut) to open my Dad's for him. That's the last time I used it. It's been sitting in a kitchen drawer ever since. Hopefully you get more use out of yours. (Maybe I just need to buy more stuff that needs opening?)
Anyway, I've got a Wheat Chiefs question for you - watch your email.
I started working at The Peak in June of '07. It's good opportunity for me. I like here in Smithers but the remoteness makes it difficult to visit friends and family.
I know what you mean. I moved to Smithers from the Lower Mainland when I was 12, and my extended family is still down there.
You've got me confused with someone else...I haven't ever worked at Ski Smithers or the Alpenhorn...hell, I haven't even been IN the alpenhorn since probably 2002 (there was a lot of drama and some boycotting at one point). Plus I left BC in February of 07.
Swift Current is a good place. I like it here. It's a good sized city and really convenient to basically everything. Only 2 hours to Regina, 2 hours to Saskatoon, 2 hours to Medicine Hat, 2 hours to the US border, and 5 hours to Calgary.
